This month marks the launch of the Morley Prize for Unpublished Writers of Colour, 2022. In our debut year last year, we received just over 70 submissions of manuscripts of fiction. This year, we’ve expanded the Prize to include non-fiction.
Working on the Morley Prize has been an enjoyable experience for me. Last year, not only did I get to present the award to the winner Kate Checka, but I also interviewed three of the judges: Nelle Andrew (voted Literary Agent of the Year in 2021), Dr Emily Zobel Marshall, writer and a lecturer in post-colonial literature at Leeds Beckett University, and Louise Hare, author of This Lovely City. I’m looking forward to this year’s interviews, which those into literature and/or trying to get published, might find interesting.
