Cultivating Black Women for Social Change

In honour of International Women's Day, join us for an informative and exciting day where it's all about how we can #BreakTheBias and be an advocate for change in our local communities.

Soul Purpose 360 is hosting an International Women’s Day (IWD) event for Black women on Saturday 5th March in the auspicious surroundings of the Braithwaite Hall, Town Hall Croydon – supported by Croydon Council and funded by The National Lottery and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.

#BreakTheBias Collectively, we can begin to change the inaccurate negative narratives about Black women that’s pervasive in institutions where policies and procedures limit us. We will show that Black women are determined, resilient, innovative, dynamic and ready for the challenges that lay ahead of us.

The event will:

Launch the social research report from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation funded research “Cultivating Black Women for Social Change”Hear from inspirational and motivational Black women change-makers, sharing powerful testimonies of overcoming personal challenges and obstacles to establish projects and businesses for social good.Provide practical opportunities for delegates through engaging and interactive workshops by industry specialists on how to become positive forces for change as social change-makers.Raise the profile of Black women’s role in society through joining forces with the official International Women’s Day campaign to #BreakTheBias

WHY YOU SHOULD COME

Black women are the cornerstone of our families and our communities, however, we are often held back by personal challenges real and perceived, we carry the burdens of our past and present experiences, and are sometimes restricted by misinformed cultural and religious teachings which prevent us from living truly fulfilled lives. You will hear powerful testimonies from inspirational speakers who have overcome personal challenges and obstacles to success.

Cultivating Black Women for Social Change will empower Black women to break free from limiting circumstances by introducing opportunities for personal growth that will help you to take charge of your life and your community - to bring about positive social change as community change-makers.

Soul Purpose 360 wants you to know that despite your past and current circumstances, you have everything within you to bring about positive change in your life and in your community too and what’s more, you don't have to do it alone.

“Each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for all women” - Maya Angelou
